Leah Lacure

SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Leah Lacure is the Senior Communications Director at NEWCO. In high-stakes environments over the past decade, she has yielded billions of impressions and millions of actions through compelling storytelling, built brands and developed messaging for high-profile principals, and scaled multiple teams from the ground up.

Before joining NEWCO, Leah served as Director of Social Platforms for the Harris for President campaign. In this role, she led the team through the unprecedented candidate switch, helping to launch a new campaign and introduce the Vice President as the Democratic presidential nominee within just 107 days by distilling the VP’s bio and policies into impactful content across social platforms. She worked across many departments to develop strategy for policy rollouts, earned media campaigns, and major moments such as the running mate announcement, Democratic National Convention, and more. Throughout her career, she has operationalized and led dozens of rapid response war rooms for major political moments, including the 2024 presidential debate.

During the winning 2022 cycle, Leah was the Director of Creative Content & Social Media at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, where she managed a team of eight staff to create all social media, video, and graphics products for the committee and various campaigns. Her team’s work helped form a galvanizing narrative following the most pivotal developments of the 2022 cycle, such as the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She also communicated the caucus’ legislative priorities in high-stakes moments, such as the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, as well as a 20-hour budget vote-a-rama.

Leah has worked on three battleground Senate campaigns, beginning as early as May of the off-year and helping scale up to a full operation. Serving in the gamut of positions from assistant to senior staff, she has navigated the highs and lows of five electoral cycles, including as a Digital Director in 2020, when she rose to the challenge of bringing the campaign online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In that unprecedented cycle, her team raised an impressive 70% of the campaign’s fundraising total online, all while coordinating a steady cadence of virtual events with high-profile celebrities and surrogates.

In addition to electoral politics, Leah is proud of her work supporting mission-driven organizations as a consultant, having developed and executed digital strategy for nonprofits such as the American Red Cross, AARP Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Fight for $15. Over the course of her career, she has written copy for thousands of high-performing social media posts, ad scripts, fundraising emails, direct to camera videos, and more, successfully capturing the voices of hundreds of principals and surrogates.

Leah is originally from Rochester, New York, and is happy to share her recommendations for the best garbage plate. She is an alumna of The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Public Affairs and a minor in English, where she served as student body vice president on the first winning dual-female ticket in university history. A self-taught florist, she enjoys designing floral arrangements to celebrate moments big and small in the lives of her family and friends. Leah lives in Washington, DC with her husband and their tiny dog.
