Tony Carrk

PRINCIPLE

Carrk has spent the past twenty years fighting for policies and policymakers who promote dignity, opportunity, and the common good, especially for the people who feel left out and left behind. His work reads the political and policy landscape — where things are and where they are going — and translates what he finds into fights that can be won. Facts are the foundation. Asking the right questions is the discipline. A narrative knows where it is going.

He most recently served as Executive Director of Accountable.US, a progressive watchdog organization that fought for an economy that worked for everyone and a democracy that serves everyone, not just the well-off and well-connected. During his tenure, Accountable's work was instrumental in securing Supreme Court Justice recusals in cases with conflicts of interest, launching numerous oversight investigations and ethics complaints, and raising public opposition to Project 2025.

Before Accountable.US, Tony worked to pass and defend the Affordable Care Act. At the Center for American Progress, he led communications around passage and implementation of the law, contributing to 8 million people securing coverage during its inaugural open enrollment period, and defended the law against legal attacks, including two Supreme Court cases. In 2017, he worked at Protect Our Care, the national rapid-response operation that defeated Congressional repeal of the Affordable Care Act — preserving health coverage for more than 20 million Americans and making health care the defining issue of the 2018 midterm elections.

In 2016, Tony was Research Director for Hillary for America, leading a 35-person team during one of the most unconventional presidential races in recent memory. In 2012, he served on President Obama's debate preparation team. His earlier career includes senior research roles at the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.

Tony has spent his career on some of the most consequential policy fights of the day — not just for the day, but for what comes next.

He lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife Lizette and their two children. Tony holds a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from Siena College.
